Nothing Much
Openmindedness. Opportunities present. They make people better!
The above words/notation are the adjectives I can describe my fellow volunteers today. Actually, every Tuesday I get to wake up early and be ready to run at 8:30. This means that shower, breakfast and morning stuffs must be done before this hour.
The central station is eaxactly ten minute brisk-walk away from where I live and it is one good thing and a great advantage for the location of the apartment. Since I start a bit early, i still have time to wait for the bus that arrives exactly at 8:52 goinf to the 6th station from the central station. Actually, people arouns simply walk or use bike but the mornings here are cold and so I took the bus.
Making the whole story shirt, I was from The Hague and went to Amsterdam for a volunteer activity for the soup kitchen feeding many hungry mouths of the homeless. It is actualy managed and under the project of Mother Theresa.
While chopping vegetables, my fellow volunteers, two of them are Americans, one Czecholovakian, an Australian, an Irish and another from Netherlands (i think so) started some serious topics. It was actually on Muslim studies and all about religion and we were discussing how such a thing can break the humanity instead of uniting them. Then the conversation fly to the next topics such as concentration camps, travel experiences and stuffs.
It was quite a day.
What puzzled me is the understanding of each one of us. No one said that Christianity is over all or that Muslims are wrong. It made me think that it is indeed wonderful to be with people with open minds. Although they are too religious and faithful, they never say bad things about others, nor they think others are too wrong.
I have been contemplating how wonderful this world can be if there is harmony. How wonderful it would be if there is understanding between and among each other despite the differences. The sad reality, is, there is None! Religions, race, color and many other things divide the world to pieces and i can only think that the bigger the division, the bigger stone will be hitting the world crushing it to pices.

10 additional ideas:
good on you for doing volunteer work like that! it's a good feeling when you know you can help!
anyways, religion really is A TOPIC! it is so wide-spread that the conversation sometimes ends in a fight! i just think that we should all respect one another's beliefs; no matter what we personally think!
Wow I am into religious stuff, well more on the spiritial side of religion. If you need any help give me a bell lol. I loved History.
@Sheng,
Yes Sheng. Actuallu, it may be hard to believe but there are still a lot of homeless here...especially men. If you have lots of used men clothes to be disposed, mabe you can send them. It is a great help actually especially during cold season.
@chinagoldendawn,
i am not religious as well but i believe in almighty being and good deeds.
I agree with you. No matter what color, race or religion each of us have we will be united if only we don't point fingers on others. I don't mind having friends with different religions as long as they won't say bad things about my religion. We have our own beliefs and each one of us should respect that not criticize coz that's where the hatred came from. You're such a good person. I wanted to volunteer also in helping homeless or ill people but I'm afraid that I'll be so attached to them coz whatever happen to those people close to me, I know for sure that I will be affected.
Btw, added this one already and your other blog. Hope you won't forget to add me. :)
it is futile to argue and debate about religion. in the end, walang panalo, lahat talo.
so it is really true that openmindedness is an important recipe in understanding one another.
openmindedness is the most important ingredient towards PEACE!
sensya gali, forgot to change your links...medyo busy lang. anyways, i've fixed it already! :)
What a noble thing you are doing! People like you are rare and I really adore you. Each of us have different views and ways on how to help and you are right if we will just be united, everything will be alright.
BTW, I have something for you http://obstaclesandglory.blogspot.com/2008/08/lucky-day.html
Thanks for the comments!
hi! i'll see if i can help in some ways. i guess homeless people are everywhere. no matter how rich one's country is, there will always be someone who is left out. sad but true!
anyways, i just want to pass this poem of friendship to you . . . FRIENDSHIP :)
every now and then you will meet a group of people that think for themselves.

I totally agree with you here. If those are present, then for sure, there is peace everywhere, right? But i don't think it's possible. For as long as there's selfishness, there will be no peace.
